Gemini släpper uppdateringar för Android och iOS med ny meny och Canvas-funktion

The Gemini app has received an update for Android and iOS, which includes a new plus menu and Canvas feature. The update became available after the launch of this feature on the web version.
Here's What We Know
The plus menu has changed: instead of a list, there are now buttons for Camera, Gallery, Files, and Drive (not available on iOS). New shortcuts for Deep Research and Canvas have been added below them. Deep Research allows you to get detailed answers without going to the model selection. It uses Flash Thinking 2.0 experimental models, and Google no longer indicates which model is used. If the function is not available for a particular model, the button turns grey.

In addition, a new Files in this chat button has been added in the top right corner, making it easier to access files.
Canvas on mobile devices allows you to create documents and code, but on mobile screens there is no division into panels like on a computer. To edit, you need to close the document and enter a new query, and there are currently no text selection or editing functions.

This update follows the recent launch of Audio Overviews for mobile devices.
It was recently reported that Gemini will replace Google Assistant on Android phones. Google has officially confirmed that later in 2025, Gemini will completely replace Google Assistant on most Android devices. It is expected that users will be informed of the exact date of the switch-off in advance.
