Nya Audi A6: så här ser interiören ut utan passagerardisplayen

Audi unveiled the new A6 Avant last week, and one of the features of the model is three displays in the front of the cabin. The car in this configuration was shown in the first official photos. However, now there are images of the model without the third (passenger) screen. Expectedly, a sleek black panel has been left in this place as a reminder that "you could have paid more".

Here's What We Know

The new A6 Avant in the base version for 58,000 euros follows a strange design decision that was implemented in the Audi A5 as recently as last year. If you don't order the optional passenger screen, you get a plug like this. However, installing a third display will cost as much as 4,530 euros. It's all about the fact that the passenger display is part of the so-called "Tech Plus" package, which includes matrix LED headlights and "adaptive driving assistant plus".

This is the interior design of the new Audi A6 Avant in top-end configuration:

And this is what the car looks like in the base configuration:

Even if you splurge on a screen, there's another nuance - thick bezels around all the displays. As Motor1 notes, the centre 14.5-inch multimedia screen and 11.9-inch digital cockpit are surrounded by glossy black plastic that looks more like a 2010s smartphone than a modern premium car.

Audi promises improvements

The Ingolstadt-based company has already admitted that the quality of its cars' interiors has fallen in recent years, and promises improvements. But along with that, prices will rise as Audi has decided to strengthen its position in the premium segment, even if that means fewer sales but higher profits.
