Framtidens "folkets bil": VW presenterar elbilskoncept för 20.000 euro

Volkswagen has announced a return to the principle that made the brand what generations of car owners remember it for - reliable and affordable. The new concept car ID. EVERY1 is the successor to the VW Up! produced until 2023 and with it, a precursor to an entry-level production electric car being created specifically for Europe.
Here's What We Know
Volkswagen will launch the production version of the ID. EVERY1 in 2027 with a starting price of around €20,000. That's €5,000 less than the starting price of the VW electric car ID. 2all, which will debut already in 2026. Both models are part of a new family of front-wheel-drive electric city cars. They are all based on the modular MEB platform.

The production version of the ID. EVERY1 will be the first model in the entire Volkswagen Group to utilise a fundamentally new software architecture. This means that the future entry-level Volkswagen can receive new functions throughout its entire life cycle.

The interior of the ID. Every1 features a simple design with a large touchscreen display in the centre of the front panel. Notably, beneath it are physical buttons for temperature, heating and volume control. The front passenger has access to a changeable multi-purpose panel to which various items such as a tablet or shelf can be attached. A detachable Bluetooth speaker is located between the driver and passenger.
The concept car reaches a top speed of 130 kilometres per hour and is powered by a newly developed 70 kW (95 hp) electric motor. It has a range of at least 250 kilometres. With a length of 3,880 mm, the ID. EVERY1 is positioned between the former up! (3600 mm), the ID. 2all (4050 mm) and the current Polo (4074 mm). It is a four-seater and the boot volume is 305 litres. Incidentally, that's just 25 litres less than the 3rd generation VW Golf.
What else should we expect from Volkswagen?
The German brand will unveil the next member of its family of electric city cars, the crossover ID. 2X, in the autumn of this year. It will most likely happen at the Munich Motor Show.
