Nya Volvo ES90 visar sig faktiskt inte vara en sedan. Vad vet vi om det elektriska flaggskeppet?

Volvo has unveiled the ES90, its first electric model that is not an SUV. The novelty is positioned as a technological flagship of the brand, which will have to compete with the BMW i5.

Here's What We Know

Despite its similarities to a sedan, the ES90 is a five-door hatchback with a raised driver's seat, which brings it closer to crossovers. Its 0.25 aerodynamic drag coefficient makes it the most streamlined production Volvo in history.

The Volvo ES90 is built on the SPA2 electric platform, which the EX90 SUV also uses.

Engines and range

The model will be available in three versions:

  • Single Motor (rear-wheel drive, 245 hp, 92 kWh battery, WLTP range of 640 kilometres)
  • Twin Motor (all-wheel drive, 442 hp, 92 kWh battery, 700 km WLTP range).
  • Twin Motor Performance (all-wheel drive, 670 hp, 92 kWh battery, WLTP range - 700 kilometres)

Thanks to its 800-volt architecture at 350 kW charging stations, the ES90 can charge up to 300 kilometres in just 10 minutes.

With a long wheelbase of 3.1 metres, the ES90 offers plenty of legroom for second-row passengers. Six interior lighting themes and various upholstery options allow the ES90 to be personalised. The ES90 also comes with a panoramic roof that offers 99.9 per cent UV protection. And if you opt for the electrochromic version, you can adjust the transparency of the glass at the touch of a button.

The boot can hold up to 424 litres. If you fold down the three rear seats - all of which fold down individually - the luggage space increases to 733 litres. The 22-litre front boot is more suitable for transporting and storing charging cables.

The Swedish automaker claims the ES90 is its most powerful development yet, but not in terms of horsepower. It's a fully connected, software-defined vehicle that uses Nvidia's Drive AGX Orin processor, which can handle more than 500 trillion operations per second. According to Volvo's chief engineer and chief technology officer Anders Bell, it is the most powerful car in terms of core computing power.

Volvo has equipped the ES90 with a next-generation infotainment system with integrated Google services, which includes services such as Google Maps, Google Assistant and other apps on Google Play. The 14.5-inch centre display can control navigation, entertainment, climate, phone and more.

Where and when can I buy one?

The Volvo ES90 is already available to order in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, the UK and several other countries. Other markets will get the novelty by 2026. There are no official prices yet, but we would target a starting point of around €80,000.
