Activision recently posted an advertisement for its new mobile game Guitar Hero on its official Instagram, but the post quickly drew criticism for using artificially generated illustrations.

Here's What We Know
Although the advert has been removed, it can still be accessed via a direct link. The illustration, which depicted a band with four guitarists and no drummer or vocalist, was widely recognised as artificial, prompting fans to express their disappointment. The visuals lacked the soul usually associated with Guitar Hero, a franchise that is loved for its exciting music and gameplay.
In addition, the post contained the tagline "Play your way - Guitar Hero goes mobile", but the image was even more disturbing due to strange design decisions, such as the tooltip bar with two blue tracks.
This is yet another instance where Activision has received backlash for using AI art in its advertising campaigns, with fans questioning the decision to bypass human artists. Despite this criticism, Guitar Hero fans continue to look forward to further details about the mobile game, which is expected to launch in 2025.
