At the Kia EV Day 2025 event in Spain, the company officially unveiled the EV4, the first electric sedan and hatchback in its line-up. The model is built on the E-GMP platform, like the EV3 crossover, and is positioned as a more affordable alternative to the EV6 and EV9. Previously, we have already learnt what the exterior design of the car will be and that the model will get a simulated manual gearshift. Now more photos have been published (including the interior), specs and production locations have been revealed.

Here's What We Know

The Kia EV4 will be offered with two battery options:

  • 58.3 kWh - range of 430 kilometres (sedan) or 410 kilometres (hatchback) (WLTP).
  • 81.4 kWh - range 630 km (sedan) or 590 km (hatchback).

Front-wheel drive in all versions, and a 201 hp (150 kW) electric motor provides 0-100 km/h acceleration in 7.4-7.7 seconds. Top speed is 170 km/h.

The EV4 has a 400-volt architecture, which reduces cost compared to 800-volt, but makes charging slower compared to the Kia EV6 or Hyundai Ioniq 5. Still, topping up a 10-80% charge takes 29-31 minutes, which is a good result.

Design and functionality

The sedan's long rear overhang and flowing lines are a new approach in Opposites United's styling. A low aerodynamic coefficient of 0.23 cd works to reduce energy consumption.

The EV4 also supports 3.6 kVA Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology to power external electrical devices, and 10 kVA Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) to connect to the home's power grid.

Interior and Technology

There are three screens inside: Two 12.3-inch displays for the instrument cluster and multimedia, and a separate 5.3-inch screen for the climate control. The physical buttons are also retained. There are plenty of USB ports placed around the cabin to connect your gadgets, and in some trims there will be a HUD display in front of the driver.

Where will it be produced?

Kia EV4 sedan - in South Korea. The EV4 hatchback - in Slovakia. Kia has said that the model in the five-door body is aimed primarily at the European market.

Sales in South Korea will start in March, in Europe in the second half of 2025, and in the US even later. The EV4 doesn't have an official price tag yet, but the base version is expected to cost around 37,000 euros (roughly $39,000). In the U.S., the starting price will probably be about the same.
