420 hk, topphastighet 439 km/h: ny motorcykel med helikopterturbin presenterad

The motorbike world has seen its fair share of exotics, but the MTT 420RR is in a league of its own. In 2025, the world's first production motorbike with a gas turbine engine from a helicopter celebrates its 25th anniversary. In honour of this, the American company MTT has created the MTT 420RR 25th Anniversary Edition. The novelty received a power unit Rolls-Royce Allison 250-C20B, developing up to 420 hp of power at 52,000 rpm and 678 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm.
Here's What We Know
The MTT 420RR can hit a top speed of 439 km/h, and that's only because of the electronic limitation. The real potential is not limited by the engine, but by the two-speed gearbox and the lack of proper tyres. The rear-mounted Pirelli 200/50-ZR17 tyre was originally designed for speeds over 270 km/h, but how much "over" is unclear.

All the performance figures are impressive:
- 0 to 365 kilometres an hour - 15 seconds;
- fuel consumption at full throttle - about 78 litres/100 km;
- range on one tank (34 litres) - 50-60 kilometres.
MTT used lightweight materials from the aerospace industry to create the 420RR. The frame is made of aluminium alloy and the fairing is made of carbon fibre. The dry weight of the motorbike is around 227kg.
There is a 55mm inverted fork at the front and an adjustable Öhlins mono shock absorber at the rear. Brembo brakes:
- two 320mm disc brakes at the front with 4-piston calipers;
- one 320mm disc at the rear with four-piston calipers.
To celebrate Y2K's 25th anniversary, the company will release only 5 examples of the MTT 420RR 25th Anniversary Edition. The price tag is $275,000.
In the US, it can be legally used on public roads. But in Europe - only with "red" registration for test vehicles.
