According to a new leak, Samsung is planning to equip its new Galaxy S26 smartphones with silicon-carbon batteries to increase their capacity. While Chinese brands already offer devices with higher-capacity batteries, Samsung still used 4,000 mAh to 5,000 mAh batteries in the Galaxy S25 series.

Here's What We Know

However, according to a report from FNNews, the company is considering introducing silicon-carbon batteries in its future models. These batteries, which use silicon material, offer higher capacity compared to conventional graphite-based batteries.

With the new technology, the Galaxy S26 Ultrais expected to feature a 6,000 mAh battery, while the base and Plus models could get 4,500 and 5,500 mAh batteries respectively. With the increase in battery capacity, it is expected that the charging speed will also increase.

A Samsung Electronics spokesperson noted that using a silicon anode increases capacity but requires improvements to address the lifespan of such batteries. Therefore, this technology still needs to be finalised.

Apple is also reportedly working on similar technology, and the first iPhone with such batteries could arrive in 2026.
