Porsche 911 Carrera S 2025 är kraftfullare, men har förlorat sin manuella växellåda
Porsche has continued to update the line-up of the 992 generation 911, which is also commonly referred to as 992.2 already. This time, the company has talked about the 911 Carrera S Coupe and Cabriolet for the 2025 model year - they will take the place between the base 911 Carrera and the new hybrid 911 GTS.
The big news is that the 3.0-litre opposition turbo engine now produces up to 353 kW (480 hp), which is 22 kW (30 hp) more than before. However, the Carrera S has lost the seven-speed manual gearbox, retaining only the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK).
Here's What We Know
For extra power, Porsche has fitted the Carrera S with turbochargers and an enlarged intercooler from the previous-generation 911 Turbo. The Carrera S Coupe accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 308 km/h. There is no information on fuel consumption yet, Porsche only talks about "additional efficiency".
Porsche has significantly updated the standard equipment of the Carrera S. It includes 20/21-inch wheels with multi-size tyres, the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+) system, which is not available on the regular Carrera, and a sports exhaust system with silver-coloured tailpipes. The brakes are inherited from the 911 GTS with 408 mm discs at the front and 380 mm at the rear, as well as red calipers.
On request, Porsche offers ceramic composite brakes and PASM sports suspension, including 10 millimetres of understeer combined with a steerable rear axle. The company says the shock absorber hydraulics have been optimised and thus provide improved handling, "while at the same time improving precision and more accurate response". In addition, the steering system has also been tweaked.
Porsche says that inside, the car will get more leather-trimmed components, although there is still an extended leather package, and other refinements made to the entire 992.2 family. These include a digital instrument panel and engine start with a button, of course, located to the left of the steering wheel. There's also a new Exclusive Manufaktur Leather Interior package that allows for 48 unique colour combinations.
Like other updated 911 models, the coupe is a two-seater by default, with rear seats as a free option. The convertible, on the other hand, always has a 2+2 seating configuration.
Prices
The Porsche 911 Carrera S can be ordered in coupé and convertible bodies with rear-wheel drive. In Germany, prices for the 911 Carrera S including VAT start from 154,800 euros for the coupe and from 169,000 euros for the open-top version.
In the US, prices start at $148,395 for the coupe and $161,695 for the convertible. Presumably, Porsche will also soon release the all-wheel drive Carrera 4S in coupe, convertible and targa formats.
