Who among us has not admired photos of a blue and white Lamborghini Gallardo with the blinkers of the Italian "Polizia di Stato"? This supercar was the beginning of a tradition that has been going on for two decades. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Lamborghini's co-operation with the police, the company has revealed four generations of the legendary Lambo with special lights.

Gallardo (2004-2005).

It all started in 2004, when the Lamborghini Gallardo appeared in the fleet of the Italian police. It was the first project created after Lamborghini came under the control of Audi in 2003. Thanks to German technology, the supercar became much more reliable than its predecessors.

The Gallardo with its powerful V10 was used for patrols and parade events. One of the cars given to Rome has covered 140,000 kilometres over the years, patrolling the streets and ring roads of the capital. The second was sent to Bologna. In addition to patrolling, these Gallardo were used for emergency transport of organs for transplantation.

Gallardo LP 560-4 (2008)

In 2008, the police received an updated model Gallardo LP 560-4 with four-wheel drive. It was transferred to Calabria to patrol the infamous Salerno-Reggio motorway. In addition to its standard duties, the Lambo continued to save lives through the rapid delivery of organs for transplantation.

Huracán LP 610-4 (2014-2017).

In 2014, the Gallardo gave way to the Huracan LP 610-4. This car with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds became the fastest vehicle in the history of the Italian police. The Huracan once saved the life of a woman in Turin by delivering a needed organ for transplantation. In 2017, the police received a second second Huracan.

Urus Performante (2023).

Not every police car has to be a supercar. In 2023, the Polizia di Stato received the Lamborghini Urus Performante. Although it is slightly slower than the Huracan (0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds), the SUV with two extra doors is better suited to transporting detainees to the station. Like all the cars supplied, it is equipped with a refrigerated compartment for organ transport.
