The Thaumaturge is an isometric role-playing game developed by Fool's Theory that immerses players in the mystical world of early 20th century Warsaw. Players take on the role of Viktor Szulski, a thaumaturgist who is able to communicate with demons known as salutatorians. These creatures have their own unique abilities that can be used in battles and to influence other characters.

The game was released on PC back in March and has now reached PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.

Here's What We Know

The game's plot explores the themes of folklore, magic, and human emotions, emphasising the dark side of reality that most people do not notice. Using his abilities, Victor can read the emotions left on objects, which opens up new opportunities for interaction with the environment. Players can improve their skills in four categories: heart, mind, action, and word, each of which affects combat mechanics and interaction with other characters.

Battles in The Thaumaturge take place in a turn-based mode, where players can quickly switch between salutes and use their abilities to gain an advantage. Character development allows you to adapt the style of play to the player's preferences and opens up new opportunities for strategic thinking during battles.

The game also emphasises player choice: Victor's actions affect his relationships with non-player characters and can change storylines. This adds an element of depth and allows everyone to play the game in their own way.

Where To Play

The Thaumaturge is available on PC and now on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series for $30. A demo is also available on the PS Store .
