Puma Gen-E: Europas mest populära Ford är nu också eldriven

Ford has unveiled a new electric version of its best-selling car in Europe, the Puma Gen-E. The novelty will go on sale in March 2025 with one of the most interesting ratios of performance, interior versatility and price.

Here's What We Know

At launch, the Puma Gen-E will be available in a single configuration with a single electric motor producing 168 hp and 290 Nm of torque combined with a 43 kWh battery. Other models in this class now have batteries with a capacity of around 50 kWh. Nevertheless, Ford claims a good range: 376 kilometres on the mixed cycle and 523 kilometres in city conditions. On paper, the energy consumption is really low - just 13 kWh/100 km in the WLTP mixed cycle.

Weight is 1,563kg in the curb weight. The crossover is equipped with a heat pump and supports fast charging from 10 to 80 per cent in 23 minutes. The claimed 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 8 seconds. The top speed is 160 km/h.

In addition, the electric version offers increased luggage space - the additional MegaBox boot compartment of the petrol Ford Puma in the electric car is called GigaBox. The Puma Gen-E has a total boot space of 574 litres. But there's also an additional 43-litre front boot.

Design and interior

The exterior of the new Ford Puma Gen-E has a new "shield" instead of the usual grille - a stylistic curtsy in the direction of the Ford Mustang Mach-E. Aerodynamic details, original alloy wheels and a sports spoiler give the electric car a more dynamic look.

The cabin features two HD displays with an upgraded SYNC 4 system with cloud-based navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Alexa voice assistant. Switching driving modes is carried out by a digital selector that is controversial from the point of view of usability, but it freed up space on the centre console. At the same time, one of the driving modes allows the use of only the accelerator pedal for more comfortable driving in the city.

Adaptive cruise control with Stop Go, 360-degree parking camera system and LED headlights with cornering lights are available for the Puma Gen-E. Other material innovations concern the upholstery, especially the seats, with faux velvet and alcantara covers. There's also a double sunroof that makes the interior brighter.

Ford Puma Gen-E production and pricing

The Ford Puma Gen-E will be produced at the Ford Otosan plant in Romania, with electric motors sourced from the UK. Orders are already open, with first deliveries expected in spring 2025.

The Gen-E line-up consists of a base configuration and a Premium version. The latter has 18-inch wheels by default (compared to 17-inch on the base version), BO audio system and Matrix headlights. The base model starts at €32,950, while the Premium starts from €35,200.

Thus, the starting price of the base Puma Gen-E is €1,450 higher than the mild 155bhp hybrid version in the ST-Line package.
