Apple has started selling separate speakers for MacBook Pro with M4, M4 Pro and M4 Max chips for the first time in almost a decade

For the first time since 2015, Apple is offering separate speakers for the new MacBook Pro models with M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chips.

Here's What We Know

This is a significant upgrade that reduces repair costs, as previously, to replace the speakers, you had to replace the entire "top case" along with the battery and other components.

All MacBook Pro models from 2016 to 2023 required a complete replacement of the case to repair the speakers, which significantly increased the cost of repairs after the warranty expired. Now Apple has started selling speakers as separate parts for 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M4 chips, as well as for models with M1 Pro and M1 Max chips.

Repair of the speakers, although complicated, will now be available to technicians at authorised services and through Apple's self-service store.
