Hyundai Ioniq 9: sjusitsig elektrisk SUV presenterad med ett batteri på 110,3 kWh och en räckvidd på upp till 620 km

Hyundai has unveiled the long-awaited Ioniq 9 electric SUV with three rows of seats. This 5,060mm long vehicle is the Kia EV9's counterpart and is built on the E-GMP platform, which is also used in Hyundai, Kia and Genesis models.

Three configurations to choose from

All versions of the Ioniq 9 are equipped with a 110.3 kWh battery pack.

  • Long Range RWD: single rear electric motor with 214 hp (160 kW) and 350 N-m of torque. Range of up to 620 kilometres on the WLTP cycle (on 19-inch wheels). Acceleration 0-100 km/h in 9.4 seconds.
  • Long Range AWD: adds a front engine with 94 hp (70 kW) and 255 N-m of torque. Acceleration 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds
  • Performance AWD: two motors with 214 hp each. 0-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, top speed 200 km/h

When using the 350 kW charging station, it is possible to increase the remaining energy in the battery from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in 24 minutes. A Vehicle-to-Load function is also available to power external devices.

Design and aerodynamics

The Hyundai Ioniq 9 is externally reminiscent of the SEVEN concept that debuted earlier. The signature Parametric Pixel LED headlamps add to the car's recognisability. With optional side cameras instead of conventional mirrors, the coefficient of aerodynamic drag (Cd) is reduced to 0.259.

In its new SUV, Hyundai has dispensed with the traditional antenna for the first time: receivers for GPS, radio and other services are integrated into the glass. Buyers can choose among 16 body colours and wheels ranging from 19 to 21 inches.

Interior and technology

With a wheelbase of 3,130 mm, the Ioniq 9 has a spacious interior. The interior is finished with eco-friendly materials such as recycled PET, woollen fabric and eco-leather. The cabin features a curved screen that combines a digital instrument cluster and a multimedia display (12 inches each). For music lovers, a Bose audio system with 14 speakers is available.

Configurations for 6 and 7 seats are provided. In this case, the second row seats can be rotated, as in the Kia EV9.

Hyundai Ioniq 9 is equipped with an advanced safety package with collision avoidance, lane control, lane departure warning and other features. It comes with 10 airbags.

Pricing and when on sale

The Hyundai Ioniq 9 is scheduled to begin deliveries in the first half of 2025. The SUV will first appear in South Korea and the United States. In Europe, the new model is expected later. Prices have not been officially announced yet, but rumours in the US suggest that the starting price will be around $62,000 for the Long Range RWD version and $73,000 for the Performance AWD.
