Stellantis has officially unveiled the STLA Frame, a platform for electric pickup trucks and SUVs. It is designed specifically for the large vehicle segment popular in North America and some global markets.

STLA Frame features

  • Range: up to 800 kilometres (500 miles) in BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) configuration and 1,100 kilometres (690 miles) in REEV (Range Extended Electric Vehicle) configuration
  • Towing capabilities: up to 6,350 kg (14,000 lb) maximum towing capacity and 1,224 kg (2,700 lb) payload capacity
  • Cross-country capability: up to 610 mm (24 in.) deep ford.

The advantage of the platform is its adaptability. STLA Frame supports not only electric propulsion systems, but also other promising technologies: hydrogen, hybrid and even internal combustion engines. Particularly interesting is the REEV configuration: a combination of a large battery, electric motors and an internal combustion engine in the role of generator, which makes it possible to pull heavy loads without limiting the range.

Specifications:

  • 159 to 200+ kWh liquid-cooled battery capacity
  • Acceleration from 0 to 96 km/h (60 mph) in 4.4 seconds
  • Fast charging: 800-volt system can add up to 160 kilometres of range in 10 minutes.
  • Two-way charging to power other devices
  • The frame platform is made of heavy-duty steel
  • Special lower cover reduces aerodynamic drag and protects the batteries from impact.

Possible dimensions of vehicles on the STLA Frame platform:

  • Length: 5,488-5,941 mm (216-234 in.)
  • Wheelbase: 3,143-3,690 mm (123.7-145.3 inches)
  • Ground clearance: 168-262 mm (6.6-10.3 inches)

Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said the STLA Frame platform combines maximum performance with new levels of practicality, paving the way for "uncompromising" solutions for buyers new to electric vehicles. He also revealed that Jeep and Ram brand vehicles will be available on the new platform.
