This week, Apple presented new MacBook Pro and iMac models that feature 12-megapixel front cameras with support for Centre Stage and Desk View. According to the company, the new camera provides improved video quality even in difficult lighting conditions.

Here's What We Know

Centre Stage automatically focuses on the user, keeping them in the centre of the frame during video calls. Desk View allows you to show not only your face, but also what's on the desk above you while you're talking. These features are available in popular video calling apps such as FaceTime and Zoom.

Centre Stage previously only worked on newer iPad and Mac models connected to Apple's external Studio display. Now, the new MacBook Pro and iMac are the first Macs to support this feature without any additional devices.

The new models are now available for pre-order, with the first deliveries scheduled for Friday, 8 November.
